Ok I admit it, It Ends Tonight. My fear becomes reality tomorrow as I board a plane and fly to Baltimore. Balticon 42 starts tomorrow. My first Con ever. My first time meeting all the awesome Tribe members who have been so good to me over the past months. I’m scared, scared to death that I’ll do something to make a fool of myself. Believe me I have a easy time doing this. I get flustered when I meet people I respect and admire and there are so many of the Tribe that I respect and admire. Some of their accomplishments I could only dream of. The fact that they can do so much amazes me to no end. I have a hard time just doing what it takes to just live, that it shocks me that they can do so much and still have a great life. I do truly admire them.

Now I just have to face it and go forward. I hope that I can just be myself when I meet the Tribe. I hope that the fear doesn’t take hold. If it does, well I’ll just have to deal, with turning into a total fanboy. I have put myself at the mercy of my friend (maebreakall on twitter) who has promised to show me the ropes of Balticon, and introduce me to my idols. I can not thank her enough, because I would have no idea what to do. I am hoping to have a great time this weekend, barring any “fanboy” behavior. I’m sure there will be a bit of that, but I’m also sure that I will meet and befriend some really incredible people this weekend.

I’m also looking forward to some alone time for me, try and get my head in the right place so when I come back I can start new and fresh.

I have to say that I am a little bowled over. I figured that Mur Lafferty had only created Icons from her novel Playing for Keeps, for those who directly helped on the project. Which was cool and all, and I did do some local promoting and bought a copy of the book for my local library, but I never expected to get one sent to me. There it was though, in an email from the Author herself. I’m still smiling, probably will be for a long time. I am so grateful to Mur for the outstanding work she has put out, all of her podcasts, and novels are just great. You should check them all out on her new site, The Murverse- all things Mur Lafferty. I just can’t thank her enough for everything she has done, and teh inspiration that she has given me. The awesome Amp is right here and I absolutely love it.

I’ve set up my new hosting and set up my scottphillips.org blog. I need to come up with a name and move the rest of the site over and fix the links. This should be fun.

Ok I watched the new Sci Fi Channel show last night, Who Wants to be a Super Hero, with Stan “The Man” Lee. I have to say it is hilarious. I normally can’t stand “reality TV” but, being an avid comic book fan, I found this show and it’s wacky bunch of super heroes to be laugh out loud funny. In last nights show, the “super heroes” had to cross a back yard and let an old lady into her house. The problem, they had to get by two HUGE attack dogs to do it. Watching these guys get mauled by these dogs while just trying to touch the door, it was amazing. You figure that the huge guy, Iron Enforcer, would just carry the dogs all the way and touch the door. Nope he stops within reach of the door. monkey Girl, who is this tiny waif of a girl, fights with these dogs for ten minutes and actually makes it to the door. Amazing. I found the best part was the end. Iron Enforcer was bounced off the show, mainly because he didn’t fit the mold of a super hero and no one really liked him. Well Stan “The Man” Lee appears to him while he is walking away and tells him he wants him to be his super villain. Right there I was hooked. I’ll watch every week, the show was that funny.
