I want an iPhone

Ok I’m a total nerd and geek but I just followed along with the MacWorld 2007 Keynote on Engadget and it was really cool. I for one will be in line to get the iPhone when it comes out in June. My cell just recently kicked the bucket and I am now in the market for a new cell phone. I was look at a BlackBerry but now that the iPhone is coming out I’ll just have to hold off and wait. there will be two models a 4 GB one with a price point of $499 and an 8 GB model for $599. The features are amazing and being a Mac user and the ability to run OS X apps and to sync it with my existing computer makes this a must buy for me. It is wireless enabled, has bluetooth and already has some very cool accessories. It is also very attractive as it will play iTunes content, music, TV shows and Movies just like an iPod. It is awesome and I can’t wait for it to be available. They also announced Apple TV. Looks really cool but as I don’t yet have a HD TV it will probably be something I can wait on getting. Also they announced that they are changing the company name from Apple Computer, Inc. to just Apple, Inc. This is a good move based on the fact that they are now more of an electronics company and not really a computer company anymore. Overall I think the direction Apple is going will keep them in business and in the consumers households for years to come. Good job apple.

‘Twas the night before Expo

’Twas the day before Macworld, and all through the nets
Not a weblog was silent, they were all taking bets;
The photos were taken of posters afar,
In hopes that St. Jobs’ stuff would clearly show thar.

The faithful were ready, asleep in their homes,
With thoughts of Mac tablets a-dance in their domes;
As Phil with his keyboard, and Steve with his phone,
Prepared to present and to throw us a bone,
But out on the Web sites there was such a clatter,
I surfed to them all, to read up on their patter.

Come Tuesday, to Expo I ran in a dash,
A pause I did make just to get me some cash.
The moon on the heads of the other Mac nuts
Was a sign of how early we’d all left our huts.

We dreamed of new hardware, new software, new gear,
New iWork, new iLife, The Beatles (big cheer!),
More movies, an iPhone, an iTV too,
And Leopard a-growl to make Redmond go “Ooooh!”
And one more thing too, but what could that be?
Not even the journalists were privy to see.

We waited a-flutter like pilgrims so true,
As we shuffled our feet and dreamed of the new,
We stood out on line, in the cool morning air,
Knowing soon, very soon, Mr. Jobs would be there.

Then what to our wondering eyes should appear,
But a glorious limo whose purpose was clear,
With a little old driver, and a man in the back,
We all knew in our hearts that he’d be dressed in black.
More rapid than eagles, his people they came,
And he whistled, cajoled, and he called them by name;

“Now Peter! Now, Sina! Now, Ron and now Timothy!
On, Philip! On Donald! On, Bertrand and Tony!
To the top of the hall! To the front of the stage!

A few cool links I thought I would share

Here are some cool things I found in my RSS reader today I thought I would share them. First we have some really cool screenshots of the new Apple OS Leopard I found on Mac Rumors. I have to say that it looks really cool and I can not wait until it is available at the end of January. Next, courtisy of Neil Gaiman I found this great FREE audiobook “The Areas of My Expertise” read by John Hodgman, better known as PC in the Get a Mac ads that have become so popular. It looks really cool and you can’t beat the price, and hey if Mr. Gaiman recommends it I am definitely going to get it. On that same note, there is a new ad up on the Get a Mac site called Goodwill, released just in time for the Holidays. It is very funny and a must see, I especially liked the little dig that PC gets in on Mac, and I really enjoyed the theme of the message that we should all just get along.

Well I just wanted to share those with you and I hope you all enjoy the upcoming holidays.

Here I am, on my new laptop

I finally got my new laptop for work. It is quite nice, a brand new MacBook Pro. I am finally getting it to the point where it is set up to my liking. I’m also excited that I will have it for NaNoWriMo next month. It will make writing so much easier if I have a laptop that I can take with me to appointments and on breaks at work. I’ll be able to squeeze in as many words as possible in a day. Needless to say I am very excited.

On the NaNoWriMo front, I’m a bit nervous. I have never written anything more than about 5,000 words. I’m hoping that I can put together a story that will hold up over a span of about 10 times as many words. I know that everyone says not to expect much from what you write, but I always expect the best from my self. I try to put forward the best effort I can in everything I do. Hopefully I’ll be able to come close to the word count of 50,000 words. So needless to say I’m excited to do NaNoWriMo but I’m nervous as hell that I will fail.

I guess I’m just confused, which is the story and state of my life.

I know I haven’t posted in a while

I really need to sit down get my butt in the chair and write. It has been over a month since I last wrote anything other than a blog post. I need to stop making excuses as to why I don’t write. I need to stop making excuses as to why I don’t do a lot of things in my life. I need to lose weight, I need to get in shape, I need to write, I need to reconnect with my friends, I need to start gaming(RPG) more often. I need but I don’t do. I have to stop making excuses. I have to just make the time for myself and hope that my family understands. I still have a lot of changes to make in my life. I have to start making a difference in my life instead of just coasting through it all. I also need to start making a difference by doing the stuff I want to instead of just saying I will.

What has gotten me in this morose mood? I’ve been working on setting up my new computer. I finally got my Mac Pro and 23 inch Cinema Display. The only problem was that my monitor was defective. After spending two nights after work on the phone with Apple, I will be sending the Display back for a replacement.

So Now I sit with this Shiny new Mac Pro, sitting next to a ugly beige CRT. I feel like I’m going to cry.
