Life has done it to me again, and thrown a monkey wrench into my plans. I have been derailed, at least for the past week on my plans of finishing my webcomic Thoughts of a Simple Man… I have had to deal with my ineptitude on my wacom, but mostly it has been family. Coming home from vacation and getting the house and pool back in order so we can live and and use the pool during the heat of the summer. I promise that I will be working on the comic, I just need to “prioritize” my time as a great talented woman always says. Plus I have to remind myself that it is “Ok to suck.”

Speaking of the lovely and talented Mur Lafferty, her incredible book <a href="http://www.playingforkeepsnovel.com/" target="_blank" title=""Playing for Keeps" by Mur Lafferty">“Playing for Keeps” is set to be released on Amazon.com on the 25th of August. I recommend that you check out her book, and support her. She is a very cool writer and very talented and I have to say she is my idol. She accomplishes so much and I am a bit envious of that.

Ok, Balticon 42 is over. I’m still recovering I guess. It was the most awesome experience, and to anyone who has never gone, GET OFF YOUR ASS AND GO! Ok now that that is out of the way, my report from Balticon 42.

I have to first say thank you to Mae and Scott Breakall, and their friend Max. It was one of the first podcasts that I started to listen to and I have gobbled up everything that she has produced since then. Geek Fu will be missed, but I hope that given the extra time for all her other endeavors, that they will become even better than they were (which is hard to believe, everything she does is so amazing.) I credit her with re-igniting the desire to write in me. If it wasn’t for Mur, I would never have attempted NaNoWriMo last year. She has done so much for us her listeners, and I don’t think we can thank her enough. I hope that she understands, she has a great fan base, and we will support her whatever she does. Good Luck Mur in everything you do, we are all looking forward to reading or hearing it. I myself am looking forward to Earth, and can’t wait to listen to the first installment.

I have to say that Patrick McLean is one of the freshest writers that I have had the join of listening to in his podcast The Seanachai. His spin on the world of superheroes and super villians is a great change from most comics out today. I hope you all have to the chance to enjoy it as much as I have.

“How to Succeed in Evil is not a self-help page for the maladjusted. It it is the story of Edwin Windsor, Evil Efficiency Consultant. He’s like Arthur Anderson for Supervillians. How to Succeed in Evil began life serialized as a regular feature on the popular podcast “The Seanachai”, by Patrick McLean. Now it’s being made into a comic book!”

Monday is here and the weekend was great, though I don’t really want to be at work. As is the norm, the weekend seemed to just fly by, but at least we had a great family oriented weekend. We really had some quality family time, which is what I wanted to have on friday so I’m glad.

I also had some interesting news this morning, Mur Lafferty actually commented on my blog! It is like a real celebrity has read and commented on my blog. I am so psyched. She is like my motivational hero, as she has inspired me so much with her podcasts Geek Fu Action Grip and I Should Be Writing. It is because of her that I have started writing again and focused my energies into writing. So I sound like a total fan boy, I don’t care. I would be doing a total geek dance if I wasn’t at work right now. Again, Thanks Mur! You are a total inspiration to me. I still can’t believe she commented on my blog. I’m such a geek.

The end of the day is near and I’m trying to get these guys, here at work, out the door so I can go and enjoy the day, because it is GORGEOUS here. I’m really looking forward to my son’s Tee Ball tonight and tomorrow. He is so happy to play like the Red Sox do. I suppose I can thank his teacher for that, I’m not much of a baseball fan, and his teacher is a HUGE Red Sox fan. The biggest sporting event I look forward to in April is the NFL Draft. though the hockey playoffs used to appeal to me before the Bruins went all to hell. Ok enough of the sports rant. I hoping to talk to a few of my friends that I haven’t talked and chatted with in a bit. I just hope that they are around and available so we can talk.

On another note, been catching up on my blog reading for my podcasts and Mur Lafferty of “I Should Be Writing” made a very good post on her blog. Read the whole thing here.
