Writing Dilemma

Ok I’m about a thousand words into my story Blade’s Gambit and I’ve realized that I want to go in a different direction with the characters. I started out writing it all from characters point of view and realized that I don’t want to show everything from inside his head. I also want to take the story in a different direction. The dilemma, should I start the story over the way I want to, or continue with what I have, using my new ideas. I think that I will start over, I’m only a thousand words in and it will help me get a more cohesive grasp of how I want the story to be. I like to know what you guys think. Especially anyone who knows what I’m going through.
