Very good advise from a very good author
Filed Under Writing | Leave a Comment
Patrick McLean of the Seanachai has been posting writing advise in his blog. I have found this to be really insightful and very useful. He is discussing how writing is like house building. It is a very good analogy. I highly recommend his series of posts.

A productive weekend
Filed Under Family, Writing | Leave a Comment
Had a productive weekend, got some of the house straightened out and ready for the new bar in the kitchen. My only regret is not writing this weekend. On Saturday I took my son to the Patriots preseason game. That was a blast. He had such a great time, and surprised me by yelling for the defense all game long. He did really well even though the game went to nearly eleven o’clock. I been very serene since Bonnie’s passing, which as surprised me quite a lot. I’ve been fairly focused on what has to be done and been living in the moment. I’m not sure if this is good but it has been helping me deal with her loss. I’ve also had to be the strong one, as my wife has been taking her death very hard. She starts back to work this week, and I know that she is stressing out about that. I’ve just been numb to most things lately. I haven’t gotten upset about not writing. I’ve been just existing. Not sure that I want it to be that way, but I don’t know how to get out of this funk, or even if there is a way out of it. I do know that I need to get writing. I’ll have to contemplate this more.

In Loving Memory
Filed Under Family | Leave a Comment
We lost a loved one this day. Our beloved Miss Bonnie Boo Boo, our pet the last 13 and a half years, passed away sometime last night. She was more than just a pet, she was a member of our family. She will be sorely missed. She was the greatest pet and a great companion and friend. We all loved her and we all miss her so much. I hope that she enriches the lives of those in heaven as much as she enriched ours.

So the Migration is done

Ok so I think I have finally moved everything to my new hosting server, It has been a little bit of a project. I’m hopeful that I’ll like the new hosting more that I did my old host. I like my new blog a lot. I’m looking forward to using it to put my writing notes and my thoughts down. It will be more of a place for my personal thoughts. It will definitely be fun.
Sorry that I haven’t posted more lately. I have been very busy with work this week and the new server move. My boss allowed the two people who help put out the books and himself to go on vacation. Now I have to put out the books, deal with the stuff my boss deals with and still do everything that I have to do on a weekly basis. To put it plainly, I am very stressed. It has been affecting my home life. My wife has been uneasy around me, not wanting to upset me. She isn’t the cause of my stress, but her withdrawing and acting like she is walking on eggshells around me isn’t helping. It is adding to my stress, making me feel like I am doing something wrong, or that I have upset her in some way.
Adding to my stress level is that I have to go back for more laser treatments on my feet. I’m not looking forward to that appointment today at all. I won’t be at work to make sure the books get out ok. I won’t be able to make sure that everyone leaves at an appropriate time. I’ll hear about the OT from my boss when he gets back but he has to realize that he created this situation. He preached to me that I needed to have my backups ready for my vacation, but didn’t bother to get the coordination situation all set. He just dumps it in my lap and tells one of the other people here, one who isn’t very reliable, that she has to work all week to cover. I think that he did that cause he wasn’t going to be here, and he wouldn’t have to take the responsibility and could just push the blame on me.

I’ve set up my new hosting and set up my scottphillips.org blog. I need to come up with a name and move the rest of the site over and fix the links. This should be fun.

It is a strange, strange world

A boston news station is reporting that a “mysterious beast” was struck and killed by a car, while chasing a cat, in Maine. This unknown animal is suspected of attacking and killing several animals over many different counties in Maine. This strikes me as something right out of a Stephen King novel. I see a story here, time to put it in my notes and work on it later.

Writing Update
Filed Under Writing | Leave a Comment
Been having a hard time starting my next story over. I can visualize how I want it to start but I’m having a problem conveying that to the page. I just can’t find the words. I don’t know if other writers go through this, but it seems to happen a bit to me. Once I get past this blockage the words flood out, I just hate not being able to get past it.

For all fans of the Horror genre, a new horror fiction podcast announced on the Dragon Page by Mur Lafferty and the others at Escapepod. Pseudopod is going to be a horror podcast like Escapepod is to Sci Fi. I’m really looking forward to this.
