Do I look like a party planner to you?

Don’t get me wrong the day has not been all bad, but I’ve been mulling over the phone call my brother made this morning. He is visiting from out of state, with his “wife”. He hasn’t been in our area for quite a while. He calls me on my cell, while I’m at work and expects me to be able to “chat” with him. I have work to do. What is he thinking? Then he makes arrangements for us to get together on Saturday, which is fine. Then he says, “We can have a cook out and invite all the guys. You can call them all and see if they want to come over and hang out.” I’m paraphrasing here but you get the idea. So he comes to town and on the day he arrives he calls me to set up a shindig at my home. I have to call everyone and invite them over. When did I get appointed party planner for him and his wife? It bothers me that he has had time to set this stuff up in advance. Most of the guys now have kids and family and getting together on such short notice as two days is almost never a possibility. He isn’t the one that is going to look like a jerk when the phone call is made. It will be me. I’ll have to answer all the questions, I’ll have to try and explain why they weren’t given more notice. He on the other hand, will just complain when no one shows up on Saturday and say how crappy a job I did getting everyone together. Got to love family.
