On the writing front, I’ve been really engrossed in reading On Writing by Stephen King. it isn’t at all what I thought it would be. I figured it would be “if you want to be a good writer follow these rules.” It isn’t at all like that. I really like the approach that he has taken with the book. Well I have more to say about it when I finish the book.
I’m going to start carrying a journal with me so I can jot down notes, or write when inspiration strikes me. I think I really need to do this. I need to write more, on a daily basis. It is the only way that I’ll ever get better at the craft. I have to say thanks to Mike A. Stackpole. His podcast The Secrets has been extremely helpful, and his newsletter has been a godsend. I never really studied writing in college, so everything I know is all self taught. His newsletter has shown me many of the problems that most writers make so I can avoid them in the future.
