An old poem I had written

My Angel Muse

The smoke of my hearts funeral pyre
Spirals ever heavenward,
To seek the answers in despair
Which hitherto lay unanswered.

Why do men seek womanly charms?
Why do they beguile us so?
Is it part of the Maker’s plan,
That they hold mans heart in tow.

Here I sit and ponder this.
Past follies I lament.
Then a beauty my eye doth catch,
An angel heaven sent.

Eyes like a pale sky
Hair of flaxen gold,
And with one sweet smile
Her inner warmth unfolds.

Release me from my torment.
All my questions disappear.
For now I know exactly why,
God’s intentions are made clear.

Without this beauteous angel
To relieve my heart from grief,
My soul would forever dwell there
Imprisoned like a thief.

For this I am grateful
Although I must confess,
That my heaven sent savior
Might lead me to distress.

For now I am just happy
To know down deep inside,
There is always hope for mankind
For angels with him reside.

Alas, my sweet sweet savior
Knows little of the debt
That my poor soul doth owe her,
Which fills me with regret.

For I lack the nerve to tell her
When I see her eye to eye,
My eloquence escapes me
My heart pounds so, I might die.

And so I write this to her
To tell the truth in my heart,
Of how her smile saved me
And gave meaning to my art.

For once again I find that
I can put my pen to paper.
For this I owe her everything
My angelic muse, my savior.

You inspire more than words,
You give meaning to my art,
My angel sent in darkest hour
To lift my soul and heart.

I needed this to go on
Within this world we live.
You are my inspiration,
To you, my heart, I give.
